VIRTUAL TOURNAMENT FISHING

The first ever VTF online fishing tournament concluded on July 12th, 2020 as a field of 28 competitors fished from Monday July 6th until the end of the event. Coty Wood from Hatboro, Pennsylvania finished in 2nd place with a 5 fish limit of 91.25”, just 0.75” behind champion Alec Rizk.
Coty Wood admitted that his strategy during this event was to not overthink his game plan. With only 2 afternoons to get out and fish, Wood focused on “getting back to the basics” and go out and have fun just like any other fishing trip. The strategy worked out well for Wood as he competed in his first fishing tournament ever while fishing on Robin Run Lake and Loch Alsh Reservoir. These two locations were new spots for Coty Wood and he figured he would risk his tournament competing on the banks of these fisheries to see how they’d produce. On Wood’s first day out on the water, he covered water with a Black and Blue Original Menace Jig by Menace Baits trailered with a Zee Baits Xswimmer. To make some critical upgrades, Wood slow rolled a Mike Bucca Bull Shad Swimbait. On the second day, Wood fished the rainy conditions with a River2Sea Whopper Plopper when the fish moved up shallow to feed during the evening.
The VTF Summer 2020 Circuit is an engaging series of three 1-week online fishing tournaments held over the course of a three-month season. Anglers submit a limit of their longest bass and compete for big prizes while receiving points based off how they finish to compete for the coveted VTF Circuit Angler of the Season award.
